With the “Show Off” update, Counter-Strike 2 introduces not only technical tweaks but also a brand-new way to obtain skins: the Genesis Uplink Terminal.
What is the Genesis Terminal?
The Terminal is a weekly drop that gives players access to the new Genesis Collection. When opened, it presents you with five offers for random skins. You can accept or decline them one by one — but declined offers are gone forever, and if you pass on all five, you walk away empty-handed.
Each Terminal remains available for three days, and while opening it is free, you’ll need to pay for the skin if you choose to accept one. The system combines drops with marketplace pricing and player choice.

Which skins are included?
The Genesis Collection introduces 17 new skins, including highlights such as:
- AK-47 | The Oligarch
- M4A4 | Full Throttle
- AWP | Ice Coaled
- Glock-18 | Mirror Mosaic
- MP7 | Smoking Kills
Alongside these, there are plenty of new pistols, SMGs, and shotguns. All skins are tradable and some are available as StatTrak versions.
Community criticism & pricing
Reactions have been mixed. While the system gives players more transparency compared to traditional cases, it has already led to extreme market prices. For example, a Factory New StatTrak M4A4 | Full Throttle was offered for around $1,600.
Conclusion
The Genesis Terminal is an ambitious experiment from Valve. It blends weekly drops with greater player choice — but also with significant pricing risks. For skin collectors it’s an exciting new feature, while critics see it as another step toward heavy monetization in CS2.
