With the release of Counter-Strike 2, Valve has not only reworked the game itself, but also the way competitive matchmaking works. In the new game players now have ratings instead of ranks like Global Elite and Master Guardian. But what do they mean and how do they compare to the previous CS:GO ranks?
Ranks in Counter-Strike 2
While Counter-Strike 2 primarily focuses on the new Premier Mode and its new rating system, you can still earn yourself a good old Global rank. For example the Wingman mode you still have your classic skill group. In addition to that you can also play the “Competitive” gamemode, which the normal 5 versus 5 mode CS players know and love. But instead of a voting system before the match as well as global leaderboards you once again have the iconic ranks like Silver 4 and Co.. The difference is, that you know can earn a skill group for each separate map. So could potentially be a Silver 4 player on Vertigo, while having the Global Elite rank on Mirage.
Can I still become Global Elite in Counter-Strike 2?
Yes you can still earn the Global Elite rank. Either in the Wingman 2v2 game mode or in competitive mode. Unlike in CS:GO you have to earn yourself ranks on every map. You could therefore be a Silver 4 Vertigo player while being a Global Elite on Mirage.
CS2 Rating versus CS:GO rank
With the new Premier mode being the most played gamemode in Counter-Strike 2 at the moment it is also likely that you might want to skip the lesser played competitive mode with its per map skill groups. But what exactly do the new ELO ratings mean compared to old ranks like Global Elite?
CS:GO Ranks | CS2 Ratings |
Silver 1 | – 2400 |
Silver 2 | – 3300 |
Silver 3 | – 3700 |
Silver 4 | – 4100 |
Silver Elite | – 4500 |
Silver Elite Master | – 4900 |
Gold Nova 1 | – 5400 |
Gold Nova 2 | – 6200 |
Gold Nova 3 | – 7000 |
Gold Nova 4 | – 7900 |
Master Guardian | – 8800 |
Master Guardian 2 | – 9700 |
Master Guardian Elite | – 10200 |
Distinguished Master Guardian | – 11200 |
Legendary Eagle | – 12200 |
Legendary Eagle Master | – 13 700 |
Supreme Master First Class | – 15400 |
Global Elite | 15401+ |
Obviously these numbers are only rough estimates of how the new CS2 ratings compare to the old CS:GO ranks. Due to the lack of transparency in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive it is not easy and straight forward to compare the two rating system. But by looking at the amount of players within each rating or skill group it is possible to get a better understanding on how the two different systems compare.
