Valve released a new Counter-Strike 2 update overnight, introducing several gameplay adjustments, map tweaks, and technical improvements. The update focuses primarily on changes to Inferno and a major quality-of-life improvement for the Steam Community Market, which will be particularly interesting for players who regularly trade or use skins.
Inferno Receives Small Layout Changes
The update also introduces several adjustments to Inferno, one of the most iconic maps in Counter-Strike.
Three layout changes were made around Bombsite A and Mid:
- The Balcony at Bombsite A has been extended.
- The Graveyard area at Bombsite A has been closed.
- Clipping was adjusted at the small window next to Second Mid Balcony.
These changes slightly modify the layout of key areas while keeping the overall structure of the map intact.
Steam Community Market: Listed Items Can Now Be Used In-Game
One of the most noticeable changes in this update affects how items behave when listed on the Steam Community Market.
Until now, items that were listed for sale would temporarily disappear from your inventory, making them unusable in-game while they were on the market. With this update, that behavior has changed.
Starting today, items listed for sale will remain in your inventory and can still be equipped in your loadout while they are listed.
There are still a few limitations while an item is listed:
- Listed items cannot be modified (for example by applying or removing stickers).
- Listed items cannot be consumed, such as in trade-up contracts.
- Listings can be cancelled at any time.
This change makes selling items significantly more convenient. Players can now list skins at their desired price without having to stop using them while waiting for a buyer.
Additional Changes in the Update
The update also includes a few smaller improvements and fixes.
Terminal Offer Limit
Players can now set a maximum offer limit for items in the Terminal, allowing the Arms Dealer to only display offers up to a specified price. This makes browsing items easier and more customizable.
Chicken Animation Fix
Valve also fixed a slight tilt in the chicken running animation.
Workshop Map Updates
Two maps were updated to their latest versions from the Community Workshop:
- Warden
- Sanctum
These updates bring the official versions in line with the latest improvements made by their creators.
New Features for Map Scripting
For developers and map creators, the update also introduces several additions to the map scripting system, including new functions for weapon ammo control, entity movement, and bullet impact data. These additions improve the available tools for creating custom maps and game modes within Counter-Strike 2.
Summary
While relatively small overall, the latest CS2 update introduces a very useful change to the Steam Community Market and a few targeted layout adjustments on Inferno.
The ability to use skins while they are listed for sale is a particularly welcome improvement for many players, while the Inferno tweaks continue Valve’s ongoing effort to refine one of Counter-Strike’s most recognizable maps.
