Over 7 years ago, the popular map “Cache” was removed from the Active Duty map pool. Since then, players have been expecting a rework of the map in the game. With the update on 29.04.2026, Valve brings Cache back into the game. The map can be played in Casual, Competitive, Deathmatch and Retakes modes. In the near future, however, it is also expected to be included in Premier.
The version of Cache published by FMPone in the Workshop has been completely reworked by Valve. The FPS on the map have also improved significantly, which was a major point of criticism of the old version.
Furthermore, additional minor bug fixes were introduced with the update. In addition, the hidden jump spot at X-Box on Dust 2 has been uncovered again, as was already the case in a previous update; this was removed again a short time later and has now been reimplemented.

It is also interesting how Valve handled the release of this update. In recent weeks, there were clear hints from Valve on X, which is rather unusual for their approach to new game content.
The majority of players have long been hoping for more transparency and better communication with the community, as well as the implementation of player feedback. Perhaps this marks the beginning of a shift.
