CS2 Update Animgraph 2

Valve has released a new update for Counter-Strike 2, mainly focusing on technical improvements and gameplay consistency. A major highlight of this patch is the rollout of AnimGraph 2, which improves how animations are handled in the game.

AnimGraph 2 Improvements

A central part of this update is the rollout of AnimGraph 2, Valve’s upgraded animation system.

Key improvements include:

  • Smoother and more responsive player animations
  • Better transitions between movement states (walking, running, jumping, crouching)
  • Improved first-person weapon handling feel
  • More consistent animation behavior during fast movements and combat

These changes aim to make player movement and shooting feel more natural and precise, especially in competitive situations.

Ladder Change – “Tap Climbing” Fixed

One of the more interesting changes in this update is a fix related to ladder movement, specifically the ability to climb ladders by repeatedly tapping movement keys.

Valve describes this behavior as a bug. However, many players, especially at the professional level, had been actively using this technique because it allowed faster ladder movement.

With this update, Valve has removed the possibility to “tap climb” ladders in that way, standardizing ladder movement back to a more traditional input behavior.

Overall, it’s a small but notable change, especially for high-level players who had integrated the technique into their movement style without realizing it was unintended.

Further Improvements and Fixes

The update also includes several miscellaneous fixes and improvements aimed at gameplay stability and consistency. It adjusts ground smoothing where sloped surfaces transition into flat ground to improve movement consistency, resolves an issue where held grenades could inherit incorrect scaling after being dropped and picked up, and fixes a crash that could occur at halftime when transitioning from CT to T.
